Lead Shingles

Lead shingles offer an exciting concept in roof covering. They provide decorative finish for dormers, cupolas, gazebos, bay window covers, porches and numerous other special areas. Lead shingles can be fixed to all pitches above 25 degrees. In certain high-wind areas, special clips should be used. The shingles are fitted by the traditional slate and tile techniques, but are fixed directly to the flat substrate without battens, etc. Lead shingles come in a variety of sizes suitable for the size of the structure. They can be nailed directly to the substrate with no risk of cracking.

Lead shingles for roofing are made from a rolled product, and are available in any style or form. This product can be made to your specs to suit your individual needs. Roofing shingles should conform to ASTM Specification: B-749-97, Chemical Copper Lead (UNS #L51121). This grade is intended for applications requiring corrosion resistance and formability.

It is the consistency of lead used for roofing over the ages that allows us to predict its long-term performance with confidence. To achieve this superior life, however, lead shingles must be specified and installed correctly according to MAYCO specifications.
