Patination Oil

Patination oil acts as a semi-permeable membrane for lead, imparting an attractive appearance from the moment of application and is designed to gradually weather away as the natural protective patina of the lead develops, leaving the sheet with its traditional pleasing finish.

Using patination oil as directed when the new lead sheet is first laid can reduce the possibility of staining, by forming a semi permeable protective membrane, which gradually allows moisture and atmospheric gases to percolate through the surface of the sheet, allowing the formation of an adherent natural gray patina over a period of time.

Patination oil is ½ liter tins and approximately 320 square feet per ½ liter when correctly applied and will dry to an even matte finish one hour of application, subject to weather conditions.
